Hello Everyone,

I am really loving being back at school. It’s so good to see everyone settling into their new classes and isn’t the new play area in the Quad great. Sand, a pirate ship and even running water – what more could we ask for… A seaside experience in Blidworth!

The parents who came into school for the Yr6 meeting yesterday really seemed pleased with the good start everyone has made.

The next big ‘outdoor’ job is to get the playground markings done. The Playground Captains will be working hard on this over the next few weeks.

One of my favourite times so far, this term, has been taking the School Councillors to the Build-a-Bear factory shop with Mrs Clarke. Doesn’t Hartley look smart with his new clothes? I love his golf clubs, guitar and wheelchair – let’s hope he doesn’t break his leg too soon.

Keep on sorting out your wardrobes we are hoping for a bumper collection of clothes and shoes for Africa.

Hi Everyone

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the Upper Key Stage 2 trip to Nottingham Castle, Mortimer’s Hole and the Hindu Temple today. I thought it was all very interesting and informative. Thanks Miss Orridge for organising it for us all.

The Hindu Temple was particularly interesting to me as I started teaching at Hogarth Primary School which used to be on Carlton Road in that building! My old classroom is now offices and five of the infant classes have been knocked into one room to form the temple. How things change…

Might see some of you soon - if Mrs Lassetter invites me over.

Hi everyone.
I just wanted to say what a fantastic start to the year i have had in the Netherlands class. The children are wonderful and can't wait to get to work in the morning. It was lovely to come back after the summer and see yet more improvements to the school building and i would like to thank the caretaker and his staff for working so hard clearing up after the workmen to get the school ready for the new term. It is great to see some new faces in school too, both staff and children and we have all got off to a great start.
Keep up the good work everyone.
It's hard work but we love it!!

I have really noticed behaviour is getting better at school - we just need to get our children to relay events of the day proply. i saw an event and then herd a child retell it to their parent and had i not seen it i would have thought it was a different one and would have thought no consequences given and i actually heard the child be given timeout. It made me think that we perhaps need to check stuff out before jumping to conclusions that nothings been done
Mrs Lassetter
10 September 2008 10:25:12
The open afternoons will involve lots of staff, visitors and children and I am looking forward to meeting many parents there. Unfortunately at this time of the year, because of the nature of these events we do have to do them during the school day but there will be an opportunity for parents to come to open evening later in the term when we will be open until 6pm. Also we will consider repeating our major performances in the evening for working parents. Please look out for diary dates in the newsletters.

Keep up the good work everyone!

When I started my teaching career, Blidworth was one of the first schools I worked at as a Supply Teacher. I now live in Manitoba, Canada, and was looking at some School websites so I can tell my 'Canadian' students what going to school in England is like for you guys. I was really pleased to see Mrs Lassetter is still your Headteacher. Have a great summer y'all.

Hi Guys!
I'm so sorry I couldn't come to the prom last night, I got held up at work here and was very sad not to come and see you all - miss you all so much! Have just spotted some familiar names on the house captains and am very proud of you all. I have sent a letter to Mrs Lasseter via email and hope she will read it out to you before you all leave, but if not, I wish everyone the very best of luck at Joseph Whittaker and send a huge hug, especially to Mrs Parkin!
Lots of love,
Miss Rossington

Dear Mrs Featherstone and Elm Class:
Thank you for a wonderfull week. I have enjoyed every part of it and wouldn't change a thing. You all made my week worth while with your good behaviour, cracking jokes and just being pleasant. You have opened many doors for me in the future and I dont know how I will ever repay you all. Mrs Feathersone, you are a credit to the school and should be proud of what you have done as well as achieving with the children. You are always pleasant and supportive and nothing stops you from doing what you do best, teaching. Thanks to you I am now condisering teaching in a primary school, for many reasons - 1. You all made me feel special, like I was an actual teacher; 2. You boosted my confidence and made me feel like one day I will make a great teacher. And finally, you believe in me and that I can do it. You should be so proud of yourselves and the class. Thank you all. Also the school production is fantastic, it has come so far since Monday. I take my hat off to you, Mrs Kirk and Mrs Duffy. Thank you all for a fantastic week and I will see you on Wednesday. Year 6 - just remember from September when you come up to Joseph Whitaker if you ever need ANYTHING I will usually be in music so come and find me. I will be glad to help. Just one more time, thank you so much.

I am so proud of our school which is now one year old and has 'grown up' so quickly! Visitors who came to our first musical, written and directed by children, were very complementary. Well done to all those who were involved in ‘Wolves in the Walls of Blidworth Oaks’.

I was also pleased to see the coverage we got in the local newspapers for our newly refurbished library and Mrs Clarke’s award for her work with SHARE. Two SHARE workshops are held each week in school for parents so please contact the school office if you are interested.

4-1 to Blidworth Oaks.Tuesdays match was tough but we won, in the first half I scored then no-one else scored until after half time. Then Josh S scored then Jake B scored after that Hillside scored then Josh scored again - the goals were amazing. There was only 1 substitution in the whole match.

Hartley Bear had a very good time and I love my surprise, I went to the panto to see Cinderella, it was very funny. I went with: My cousins Jordan and Micky, their granny and her two granchildren (confusing!) called Courtney and Chelsea. After that we went to McDonalds and Hartley and me had a happy meal together (although Hartley wasn't that hungry!) and then we all went to the Co-op and bought some bread and milk and things that we all need, and the we all went home and Hartley and me were very tired, i almost fell asleep on the way home! Then on Sunday we all woke up and had some breakfast and my Aunty Sharon and Uncle Wayne and their dog, Jasper came and bought me my birthday present i was looking forwad to a car that i have most years but, it was a ipod shuffle!
I love it i gave them both a big hug and Jasper got a kiss! and we all sat down but we sat there sbout half an hour tring to put music on it then we had to charge it for 4 hours, it wasnt very good but then we went to Tesco and got some treats for Jasper and got some speakers for my ipod shuffle. when we got home we put my ipod in the speakers and they were really good they were amplified and everything! We had a fantastic time with Hartley! So thankyou for choosing me to take him!

What a fantastic website and another great improvement to our school. I am very proud to be a member of such a hard working, caring and supportive team of Teachers and Teaching assistants. As a Parent Governor, I am amazed at how much the school has changed since the merger and am proud of the progress the staff and pupils have made over this short period of time. Mrs Lassetter and her team are doing a great job of teaching our children the core life skills they need to be caring and thoughtful individuals who can add greatly to life in the school and the community.

I have spent the last three weeks teaching a Year 5/6 class. It was a challenge! However, the Head and all the Staff quickly made me feel at home. Mrs Birkin, my teaching assistant, was a star. Without her help and guidance I could not have coped. Mrs Duffy, the Deputy Head and whose class I took was great. Work for the children laid out every morning, any teaching aids were prepared and clear to work with. Mrs Lasseter, the Head, also was very welcoming. She frequently popped into class to check all was well and generally welcomed me. Finally, the children! Some absolutely fabulous children, most actually! Caring, clever, and able.

I was very impressed with the work school covered during anti bullying week (19th - 23rd Nov). You were one of very few schools to acknowledge and offer work around this very sensitive but pertinent subject. My son found it to be delivered in an informative but enjoyable way, ensuring he will now be able to identify, understand and deal with any bullying issues in a confident manner.

Wooow, how things have changed over the last 60 years since I was a pupil at this school. Retired now after a very successful working life (Director of Nursing University Teaching Hospital) I still think often about the inspirational teachers ...JB Smith , Mr Fletcher, Miss Smith etc. From one of the poorest families in the village to great success. Many thanks to one and all ... Your hard work is never wasted. Ron
